This webpage covers the basics of how sound waves are produced to make music.

First you must understand what a wave is, and what terminology we will use to discuss waves. You can then find out how sound waves are produced and what wave characteristics effect how the waves sound to us. Look here for a shockwave simulation which will play sound waves and display their characteristics on the screen.

After learning how we sense sound waves, you can then find out how musical instruments can produce the notes that they do.
